Today Overload Gaming would like to officially announce the addition of a new team in a very familiar game. Overload Gaming is welcoming a team active in Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory into our ranks.
A brief history of Overload Gaming's past involvement in the W:ET scene:
- In 2005 a group of W:ET players founded Overload Gaming
- In 2007 Overload Gaming welcomed it's first top level Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory team. which went on to participate in the ClanBase EuroCup XVI but failed to make an impact
- In 2008 Overload Gaming revitalized it's Enemy Territory effort and returned to the EuroCup, performing very well and taking home bronze in the EC XVII
- In 2009 Overload Gaming surprised everyone by ending third at the Crossfire Challenge 6, as well as taking home silver in the ClanBase EuroCup XIX
Some very big shoes to fill indeed, so without further ado, please welcome:
Overload Gaming - Oceans6.
Matthias Daems (alias rasloV)
David Phillipaerts (alias dAv1d)
Kevin Verhulst (alias kevin)
Grim Stalmans (alias Gr1m)
Steff Karremans (alias karre)
Some of you might wonder why the lineup is composed of five players instead of the six players Overload's previous teams have always fielded. Well, W:ET is going through a revolution right now, which was started by the seventh Crossfire Challenge installment opting for that size. This event will be sponsored by Intel and has thus been named the Crossfire Intel Challenge 7. The new team size is already bearing fruit: Over thirty four teams will be attending the event which will be held at the WZZRD LAN Centre in Enschede, The Netherlands at the start of March this year. Overload Gaming will be represented at the event by our new Belgian players.
"Overload has been standing for over five years, making us one of the oldest organizations active within the Enemy Territory scene", Overload's chief manager Floris Erich (alias Sainted) states, adding "in those five years, we have gained great successes and went through some controversies, however today I would like to focus on the future. We have welcomed a team which you could consider as underdogs, and that is exactly how I myself look at the team. However one can not help but notice the raw potential this lineup holds. And let's not forget: 5on5 is an entirely new game, and we are here, yet again, to play and win.".
Team captain Matthias Daems had the following to say: "We are really happy that Overload has chosen us to represent them at the upcoming LAN. We hope to be able to surprise people and do very well. We have dAv1d & Kevin as the veterans, and karre, gr1m and me will have to step up and show the scene what we are capable of. We would also like to thank kuraigu from oceans6 for helping us with our LAN adventures."
The team will be managed by
C. Bynum (alias kuraigu), who will also be acting as a backup player.
