Overloading the Enemy Territory!
by Sainted on 01 February 2010 19:51
Today Overload Gaming would like to officially announce the addition of a new team in a very familiar game. Overload Gaming is welcoming a team active in Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory into our ranks.

A brief history of Overload Gaming's past involvement in the W:ET scene:
- In 2005 a group of W:ET players founded Overload Gaming
- In 2007 Overload Gaming welcomed it's first top level Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory team. which went on to participate in the ClanBase EuroCup XVI but failed to make an impact
- In 2008 Overload Gaming revitalized it's Enemy Territory effort and returned to the EuroCup, performing very well and taking home bronze in the EC XVII
- In 2009 Overload Gaming surprised everyone by ending third at the Crossfire Challenge 6, as well as taking home silver in the ClanBase EuroCup XIX

Some very big shoes to fill indeed, so without further ado, please welcome: flag Overload Gaming - Oceans6.
flag Matthias Daems (alias rasloV)
flag David Phillipaerts (alias dAv1d)
flag Kevin Verhulst (alias kevin)
flag Grim Stalmans (alias Gr1m)
flag Steff Karremans (alias karre)

Some of you might wonder why the lineup is composed of five players instead of the six players Overload's previous teams have always fielded. Well, W:ET is going through a revolution right now, which was started by the seventh Crossfire Challenge installment opting for that size. This event will be sponsored by Intel and has thus been named the Crossfire Intel Challenge 7. The new team size is already bearing fruit: Over thirty four teams will be attending the event which will be held at the WZZRD LAN Centre in Enschede, The Netherlands at the start of March this year. Overload Gaming will be represented at the event by our new Belgian players.

"Overload has been standing for over five years, making us one of the oldest organizations active within the Enemy Territory scene", Overload's chief manager Floris Erich (alias Sainted) states, adding "in those five years, we have gained great successes and went through some controversies, however today I would like to focus on the future. We have welcomed a team which you could consider as underdogs, and that is exactly how I myself look at the team. However one can not help but notice the raw potential this lineup holds. And let's not forget: 5on5 is an entirely new game, and we are here, yet again, to play and win.".

Team captain Matthias Daems had the following to say: "We are really happy that Overload has chosen us to represent them at the upcoming LAN. We hope to be able to surprise people and do very well. We have dAv1d & Kevin as the veterans, and karre, gr1m and me will have to step up and show the scene what we are capable of. We would also like to thank kuraigu from oceans6 for helping us with our LAN adventures."

The team will be managed by flag C. Bynum (alias kuraigu), who will also be acting as a backup player.

IEM comes to pass
by Sainted on 28 December 2009 22:02
This year marked Overload Gaming's debut in the Electronic Sports League's Intel Extreme Masters, which is the biggest European Quake Live league in terms of price money and the skill level of attendees. It is also one of the most exclusive leagues, as to be able to participate players either need to be directly invited, or manage to end among the top four in one of the very though qualification tournaments.

Qualification
Overload Gaming was very happy to have our very own Quake Live duelist flag Richard Krooman (alias Weird) do his best to be able to grab a spot in the tournament. He embarked on this adventure when he joined the first qualification tournament, in which he was able to reach the third round before getting beaten by the up and coming player flag Charles Moriceau (alias FooX).

Considering just four players qualify per qualification tournament the ESL hosted four of these competitions. When the second qualification tournament took place, Krooman was once again one of the players in participation, looking eager to secure himself a position for the IEM. This time with success, as by taking home well deserved victories against players such as flag Stafano Conoci (alias spartano) and flag Ejthor Kristjansson (alias linkoo), Krooman qualified for the main phase of the European arm of the Intel Extreme Masters.

The tournament
Krooman was joined by his old foe flag Ejthor Kristjansson, as well as by flag Mousesports's flag Magnus Olsson (alias fox) and flag Benjamin Jakob (alias calipt) in group F. His first match was to be played against Jakob.

We were all very excited on the evening of the first match. However the match turned out to be disastrous for Krooman, who was not able to get into his game at all. Losing both maps things were already starting to look down, however there was still a chance if he would be able to repeat his feat against Kristjansson.

However things did not work out the way we hoped - Kristjansson was in great shape and managed to beat Krooman. Two matches down was not a good start at all in approach to Krooman's match against the toughest player in his group. Our fears proved right, Olsson played his A-game, taking down Krooman in two straight maps.

For Overload, the IEM has come to a very unfortunate end, as we know we could have done better. However this was the first IEM for Quake Live, and we where there, so watch out for the next season - as we will be back.

Weird faces dem0n in the EuroCup
by Sainted on 11 October 2009 14:23
Tonight Overload Gaming's very own Quake Live duelist flag Richard Krooman (alias Weird) will be facing LowLandLions player flag Romain Leclercq (alias dem0n) in the ClanBase EuroCup XX.

After having represented Team Belgium as a player of its CTF team, Romain joined LowLandLions this summer, when the team restructured its lineup. Lately the Belgium player has been bringing in good results in Quake Live duels, so it's no surprise to find him participating among some of the top players of Europe in the ClanBase EuroCup.

It's the first match for both players, and promises to be a clash of two of the strongest players in the Benelux. Be sure to check back on our website tonight to find the results of the match.
