Is FOM going to put the Benelux back on the map? - 417 views
For the first time in history will Gamevibes organise Belgium's biggest LAN, namely
Frag-O-Matic. This means they chose two "pro competitions" which will have a "boosted prize purse". Check this quote from the TEK9 website:
FOM, which stand for Frag-O-Matic, is Belgian's largest LAN party, gunning for 800 participants for their February 2009 (20-22nd) edition. FOM has chosen two competitions to be their pro competitions with a boosted prize purse, and Gamevibes has the honours to run these events in the most professional manner possible.
These competitions are:
Counter-Strike Source
Prize purse : 2000 euro CASH
Max. teams : 32
Registration fee (includes entrance also) : 150 euro (total per team)
Tournament structure: group stages and single elimination (b03)
BYOC with option to rent PCs and finals on tournament PCs on stage
FIFA 2009
Prize purse : 1000 euro CASH
Max. players : 64
Registration fee (per player) : 30 euro
Tournament structure: group stages and TBD
BYOC with option to rent PCs and finals on tournament PCs on stage
*** both tournaments start very early on Saturday morning so a Friday arrival is preferred and the tournament will be over by Sunday 16.00 PM *** we might possibly add hardware prizes to the cash prize purse ***
Furthermore there are several smaller tournaments being run, including a 600 euro Counter-Strike 1.6 competition, 400 euro for Trackmania Nations and hardware competitions for Call of Duty, Quake, ...
With interest from international participants being high, we decided to arrange for a possibility to rent PCs at a cheap price for the weekend. The price is 65 euro per person for a new shuttle PC (3 months old) with great specifications and possibly a multitude of games already installed. These PCs will be available on your spot with no setup required anymore at day one and you can simply leave your pc when you go home.
There are also a couple of hotels in the neighbourhood and sleeping facilities (though limited) are also available on the FOM site or upon request (see below).
You can also expect extensive coverage of both the CSS and FIFA event on TEK9!

As you can see, Frag-O-Matic will be very big this time, they hope to attract some big European teams and indeed they seem to succeed because
LowLandLions already confirmed and there are some rumours going on about
Team Roccat that they will attend this event! FOM is going to be really big with many events, not only gaming related, but also with other stuff, so don't you dare to miss this event!
